Alex Atzewi

Contemporary dance teacher and artistic director of ATZEWI DANCE COMPANY.
The company was founded in 1996 with thè name of NEW DANCE CONCEPT. New Atzewi’s way of thinking about dance has immediately provided to be really innovative getting positive and enthusiastic reactions on thè audiences and insiders. In regard to that, during 2001 ,his creation “Communication”. confirmed Alex as one of thè new most important choreographer in dance landscape. In November 2007, thè production ” PENSIERI” ,staged in Salerno, brought Alex to receive an important award as best Italian contemporary choreographer. The Company has changed thè name in “ATZEWI DANCE COMPANY” since 2009. In 2010 he created a choreography for thè principal dancer of San Carlo Theatre of Naples, Corona Paone, and worked for thè festival “Giovani Talenti”, directed by Luigi Ferrone.
His most famous choreography is thè one made for thè work “CARMEN”, in which thè main role is played by Leon Cino, always to his side great dancers as: Beatrice Carbone and Giulia Paris in thè role of Carmen, Stefania Figliossi and Annalisa Cianci in thè roie of Micaela, Mirand Pulaj, Amand Pulaj and Vito Conversano in thè role of thè torero Escamillo, and Michele Maddaloni in thè role of a Gendarme.
In January 2012 and 2013 he took part in New York APAP, where he brought on stage thè production “ARMONIE IN CONTRASTO” and “ LA PELLE SOTTO L’ABITO” (2013). In New York, at Baryshnikow Arts Center, Atzewi showed his work in several master classes. He carne back to America in March 2013, on occasion of “Italian Internationa! Dance Festival”, with thè productions “LA FREDDA LUCE DEL GIORNO” and “ LA PELLE SOTTO L’ABITO”.
In June 2013, he choreographed for Vasco Rossi’s Dancing Project on occasion of thè Rossi’s gigs in Bologna and Turin.
On 25th of August in 2013 he received thè Lifetime Achievement Award at thè first Edition of International Dance of Capri.
In 2014 he signed his new production “EVENING IN MOZART”, in which performed important Italian dancers, with a great career even abroad, as Sabrina Brazzo, international Etoile, Andrea Volpintesta principal dancer and freelance, and to conclude, Stefania Figliossi, freelance. Atzewi created for these dancers and his company, a curious and elegante spectacle accompanied by thè music of Mozart. His style appeard, once again, fui! of dynamics, powerfu! and contemporary, even if created in a different time dimension.
On 30th of November in 2014 at Milan’s Theatre he staged his show “EVENING IN MOZART ” for Amnesty Intentional with thè special participation of Leon Cino. Evening of highly successful charity.
Producer for season 2015/2016 of “Grand Gala des Etoiles”, in which took part national and international artists, as Giuseppe Picone.
In thè latest works of Atzewi Dance Company, Alex Atzewi has worked together with important dancers known in national and international landscape as: Fernando Troya, Davit Galstyan, Beatrice Carbone, Petra Conti and Marco Agostino.
The new works of Atzewi Dance Company are: “CARDINI” with thè principal dancer at La Scala Theatre Antonella Albano, “ROMEO AND JULIET” with thè principal dancer Amilcar Moret Gonzalez, “INDIVIDUALITÀ’ COMPLESSE”, “NARCISUUS”. “INCONTRI CON LA LUNA” with thè principal dancer Amilcar Moret Gonzalez and dancers of ADC.
The most recent works are: “RISE” (2020), “LIFE” and “GIVE” (2021,2022). In thè last one Atzewi has worked alongside thè ballerinas of La Scala Theatre : Antonella Albano (principal dancer) and Maria Celeste Losa (soloist) in addition to thè principal dancer Amilcar Moret Gonzalez and his company dancers.
In 2020 and 2021,2022 he has taken part, as teacher, to thè lessons of ONDANCE.
Guest teacher/choreograpeher in Madrid in November 2022 for new creation and workshop at Escuela Danza.
Actually his professional contemporary dance course, APAD, collaborates with external teachers, choreographer and dancers as: Idan Sharabi, Fernando Troya, Loris Petrillo, Davide di Pretoro, Emilio Calcagno, Valerio Longo, Nico Monaco, Sabrina Gargano, Elena Bolelli, Roberto Tedesco .
