SZILÀRD MACHER

Director of the Institute for Training Dance Artists of the Hungarian Dance Academy.
Mr. Macher studied at the Hungarian Dance Academy, where he obtained his diplomas as a ballet-dancer in 1995, as a classical-ballet pedagogue in 1998 and as a dance theoretician in 2003. He graduated as a choreographerin 2007 at the University of Theater and Film. He became a Doctor of Liberal Arts in 2015.
He was member of the Hungarian National Ballet between 1994 and 2015, where he was a soloist from 2000.

He started to work as a ballet master at the Hungarian Dance Academy in 1998, where he is a professor now and the director of the Institution for Training Artists since 2011. He teaches both in Hungarian and English, not only at the Academy, but at the Zagreb Art University and at masterclasses and (summer) courses around the world (Scandinavia, Taiwan etc.).
As a choreographer, he makes pieces mostly for his students, which are on stage at the HDA performances and taken successfully to competitions also.
His work is honoured with several national awards.
