ROBERTA FERRARA

seminar

Art director Equilibrio Dinamico Dance Company – Italy

Her artistic background is structured over time between Italy and abroad, through the study of multiple techniques and languages, necessary to start a creative process and a path of discovery. This is matched by the study of humanities with a degree in Modern Literature / Theatre Culture, in 2014, at the University A. Moro, Bari, discussing the experimental thesis “Tarantism as a therapeutic ritual”; guest study in university conferences and masterclasses for dancers and not.

At the base of her training is the study of the technique and repertoire Limon with B. jones assistant and collaborator of dr. L. Sweigard, founder of the method at the “Juilliard School” in New York and F. Ludin choreographer and rebuilder Limon; for ballet M° Ioan Iosif Girba (dancer Opera Bucharest) ; for the Graham technique M° E. Valenzano (Ecole-Atelier Rudra-Béjart).

In 2011 she began to approach to the study of the repertoire of J. Kylian and W. Forsythe, which will continue with the Intensives promoted by H. Sheather, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, O. Naharin; to this will be added the creative work with the Israeli choreographer E. Gat for the Biennale di Venezia and Ravello Festival.

These meetings of study and work will confirm a tangible need for choreography, a need that lays its foundations with the choreographer M. Astolfi and thanks to the international study projects promoted by the European Dance Alliance directed by V. Marini, opportunities to get in touch with dancers and choreographers of the Nederlands Dans Theatre.

This need for experimentation and listening has been transformed concretely in 2014, in Southern Italy, where as director she founded Equilibrio Dinamico Dance Company, a company of contemporary repertoire, still operating in programming between Europe and Asia; and Equilibrio Dinamico Ensemble, educational project for the dissemination and improvement of contemporary dance on its territory.

The works by R. Ferrara are scheduled in international theaters and festivals in Italy, Mexico City, USA, Albania, Kosovo, Belgium, Germany, Romania, Singapore, India, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Brazil, China creating networks of exchanges and collaborations with Italian Cultural Institutes such as New York and Cologne.
