Ballet mistress, rehearsal director, M.F.A in Ballet Pedagogy
O.A. Iwata graduated from the Perm State Choreographic College under the training
of People’s Artist of Russia Lyudmila Pavlovna Sakharova in 1986, with a specialty
in ballet performance. In 2001, she graduated from the Russian Academy of Theater Arts in Moscow and received the teacher-choreographer qualification, specializing in “Pedagogy of
Choreography.”
From 2006 to 2009, she was a graduate student at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography. In 2009, she defended a dissertation on the subject: “Conditions for
organization and pedagogy of classical ballet in the choreographic studios of Japan.”
She was awarded an M.F.A. in Ballet Pedagogy. From 1986 to 2009, she went from ballet performer to “leading master of the stage.”
From 2005 to 2016, she worked as a teacher and ballet mistress in Moscow.
In 2012, O.A. Iwata was a prize-winner at the Moscow Competition of Choreographic Mastery and was named Teacher of the Year 2012, nominated in the category of
Additional Education.
As ballet-mistress and rehearsal director, she was named “Best Choreographer” at the Moscow Youth Endowment Festival in 2014 and 2015. In 2014 and 2016, she was a prize-winner at Terpsichore’s Fantasy, a competition for teacher-choreographer staging in Moscow.
In 2017, she is working as ballet-master and teacher at the Buryat State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in Ulan-Ude.
