Maria Postelnicu was born in Bucarest(Romania).
She started to study classical dance, at the age of eight, at the “George Enescu” Academy, where she graded at the age of eighteen.
Right after that, she got hired as a dance teacher at the National Opera of Bucarest, where she performed as a soloist dancer and principal dancer in the most famous repertoire ballets (Swan Lake, Bayadere, Coppelia, Giselle, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, Carmen, Esmeralda, Romeo and Juliet, La fille mal gardee, etc).
With such ballets, she joined lots of tours in Germany, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Holland, Russia, Bulgary, Italy and Austria.
She has studied with numerous famous dance teachers such as Mihaela Craciunescu, Cristina Hamel, Amato Caciulescu, Lulu Ross, Raul Ercianu, M. Umrichin, Oleg Danovski and many others.
She is also really famous in the TV and Cinema world: she danced in various tv shows, and also played many important roles in films by the main Romanian film directors (such as Stere Gulea e Sergiu Nicolaescu).
Her films are still transmitted by the Romanian public TV.
She taught classical dance, repertoire and character dance at the “Rhainland Phalz” in Germany and at the “Centro Internazionale di Danza” in Italy.
Thanks to her great artistic experience she won many prizes with her students at different national competitions and made many tours in Greece, England, Romania, Italy and Germany.
She has also organized stage with a great principal dancer Irek Mukhamedov from the Bolshoi theatre (Russia).
In 2012 she got prized by the Bucarest Opera during his 90th anniversary of foundation.
In 2013 she got prized by the Province of Cosenza for her abilities, determination and, most importantly, humanity and high moral that she profounds in her profession.
Currently, she lives in Paola (CS) and teaches there, but also in the rest of Italy, Romania, Germany and Greece.
She organizes tours in Greece, Germany, England, Romania and Italy for the International Dance Gala made by her and George Postelnicu.
She collaborates with the AJD International competition and has been prized with George Postelnicu by Antonio Fini, for their career and commitment to spreading the art of classical dance.
She often gets invited to join juries of many competitions because of her professionalism and excellent knowledge.
For this type of events, she usually is invited to make dance classes.
During the various stages and competitions, she selects the most deserving dancers, giving them scholarships for taking part to the Dance Campus & Contest “San Francesco di Paola”, an event directed (from 2016 onwards) by her and her husband, George Postelnicu.
