DINO VERGA

Choreographer, Teacher and artistic director of the company “Anton – Dino Verga Danza”

Coordinator of the department School of Contemporary Dance at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza where he is a teacher of modern technique and contemporary, and choreographer for various productions, 1998

He was a contemporary teacher at the Scuola di Ballo del Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, 1999

He has danced con various dance companies in Italy and overseas as a ballet dancer and as a contemporary performer.

In 1985 he founded his first company, recognized from the Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali, from 1997 to 2014.

He has choreographed more than one hundred dance creations. His choreographic works appear in the repertoire of various companies and in various festivals, including: Salon de la Danse (Paris), Teatro Argentina di Roma, Malta International Atrs Festivals, RAI 2, Lindsay  Kemp Dance Company, Palazzo delle Esposzioni di Roma, Balletto di Sardegna, Festival Internazionale di Cartagine (Tunisi), Melkweg Theatre (Amsterdam), Beijing Dance Academy (Pechino), Festival ProART (Prague), Theatre Elledase (Bratislava).

He has received many prizes, he has obtained the Leonide Messine Prize for his achievements in the art of choreography in September 2009, in the last edition presented by Alberto Testa. Other prizes are: Apollo Musagete Prize in 1986 for “Emerging Artist”, and 1990 he has won Beato Angelico International Prize for choreography. In 2006 he has received the career award Roma per il Ballo, the president of the commission was Vittoria Ottolenghi.

He his a reference point in Italy for the Merce Cunningham technique in Italy, thanks to the close relationship he has with the Cunningham Studio and Merce Cunningham Foundation (today known has the Cunningham Trust) of New York, in 2004 he has owned, for his own company Anton – D. V. D, the rights for “Cross Currents”, first and only company in Italy to obtain in his repertoire a choreography by Merce Cunningham.

In 2011 he is maitre de ballet for the tours the Random Dance di Wayne Mc Gregor does in Italy. In the same year he has organized teacher courses for contemporary dance at the Fondazione Nationale Della Danza AterBalletto of Reggio Emilia.

In 2013 he collaborated with the Slovakian association Danza Mea and the National Theater Accademy of Bratislava, for organizing summer camps dedicated to the contemporary dance .

In 2014 he is at Latvijas Muzikas Akademija di Riga (Lettonia), as a guest teacher for the choreography course of the same academy, then in Berlin as a guest teacher for the Staatliche Balletschule Berlin.

In 2016 he is a choreographer for a section of the ballet “Pinocchio” by Anna Razzi, for the shows of the Scuola di Balletto del Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.
