Harriet Chung

Harriet Chung was born in Hong Kong and studied dance at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and at the National Ballet of Canada. She has danced professionally with the Empire State Ballet, Ontario Ballet Theatre, Xing Dance Theatre among others.

She has had an extensive international musical theatre career and has appeared in such hits as the Toronto production of, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats in Germany, and numerous productions of The King & I in Ontario and in British Columbia where she also received an Ovation Theatre award nomination for Outstanding Choreography. Harriet also starred in the title role in Golden Lotus, in Hong Kong, where she received a Hong Kong English Drama Award (Heckers) nomination for Best Actress. She has also peformed in the Iron Road, Starbright, Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant, Mandarin Profile Awards and Fiddler on Fire.

Harriet is also the artistic director of her own Harriet Chung Performing Arts where she has directed and choreographed many musical theatre productions. Previous to that she was the artistic director of Yip’s Children’s Choir Musical Theatre where she also directed and choreographed many musical theatre productions. Harriet has also judged and taught internationally in Japan, Malaysia and Hong Kong, The Philippines. She has been a judge and Master class instructor for the Star of Canaan Dance International Ballet Competition from 2016-2020 and she also judged for Musical Theatre Idol In Ottawa.
